Approach to Healthcare
More than ever, it’s vital that healthcare organisations such as hospitals, GPs, dental surgeries, and veterinary practices deliver the highest standards of care. These industries are fast-paced and high-pressured, whilst needing to comply with strict regulations and legislation.
phs helps those in the healthcare sector to maintain safe and hygienic environments to deliver the best in patient care. From ensuring safe and secure waste collection and disposal to creating welcoming environments to patients, our services help deliver the very best to patients.
We understand the challenges faced by healthcare businesses across the UK, and through the help of our products and services, we always strive to put people at the heart of our services while caring for the environment too.
Impact of Products / Services on Healthcare
phs can work with your business to safely store and dispose of waste from any waste stream. We also offer a range of fully serviced hygiene products including soap dispensers and first aid kits.
Our in-house product team are constantly responding to the needs of our healthcare customers. For example, the Select Soap Dispenser was designed to meet the requirements of HTM 01-05 (chapter 6.11) guidance for Dentists on the prevention of cross contamination.
We are also on hand to help NHS customers reach the 60:20:20 waste segregation ratio by 2026. As well as safely disposing of yellow and orange stream waste with our fleet of specialist vehicles, we will turn your offensive waste into renewable energy as part of the phs LifeCycle Strategy.
Innovation
At phs Group, we believe in equality and inclusion in the washroom. As the leading hygiene services provider in the UK, Ireland, and Spain, we have the responsibility to encourage lasting change.
Historically, male washrooms lack amenities, especially when it comes to the disposal of hygiene waste such as incontinence products. Washroom vending machines have also traditionally lack much needed male incontinence products, supporting men who may need them in their time of need when out and about. We know what men need when they visit the washroom, and we are driven to provide facilities that enable all men to dispose of their incontinence waste with dignity and sustainably.
In partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, we are committed to eradicating the stigma associated with male incontinence through our Dispose with Dignity campaign and Prostate Cancer’s Boys Need Bins campaign; through driving awareness, providing guidance, and offering a dignified disposal solution in the washroom
Future Direction
phs are proud to report that our increased landfill diversion targets are now seeing 92% of all waste treated at energy recovery plants, thanks to our phs LifeCycle Strategy. This transforms the waste into enough energy to power nearly 12,000 average UK homes for a year. By diverting waste away from landfills, we not only reduce our environmental footprint but also contribute to a more sustainable future. We are the only Hygiene provider to offer this on a National scale.
